ON Communication held its sixth annual staff golf tournament at Camlachie Golf and Country Club on June 17, 2016. Mother Nature was at her best, blessing us with a full day of fabulously warm sunshine, and calm waters over Lake Huron.
The generosity of our talented and reliable vendors made for another award-winning prize table. A special thank you goes out to all our tournament sponsors – we truly appreciate your ongoing support and value the strong relationships we’ve built over the years. Your generous donations ensured every player went home a winner.
Also, a big thank you to Carson and SelectPath for once again sponsoring the Hole-In-One contest. Maybe next year one of us will be lucky enough to get an ace and fly off to Vegas to celebrate. Until then, we can only dream…and practice!
BBQ Feast Catering outdid themselves again this year, putting on an amazing spread that included the best ribs in town. Thank you David and staff for a feast we’re all still licking our fingers over.
The effort that went into this year’s team outfits was by far the most creative. From Team Canada to Happy Gilmore, Super Mario Bros to Superheroes, and Camp Firewater, they were all winners.
Fireworks on the beach ended the rewarding day with a bang. Christine Saunders took over rocket-lighting duties from Jeff McClinchey just in the nick of time.

We didn’t have the opportunity to celebrate a winner of the hole-in-one contest, but Rob Boyer was closest to the hole – if his drive had been two feet longer, he’d have been on a flight to Vegas. Yes Vegas, baby!

A Blast From the Past at This Year’s Virtuoso Awards
Everyone likes a party. Especially when you’re being recognized for the good work you do for your clients.
This year’s IABC Virtuoso Awards bestowed us with one award of merit and another award of excellence. We were delighted to receive recognition for our Pillar Innovation Awards Twitter Scrabble game which was accepted by Jeff McClinchey and Gus Bencomo, as well as an honour for our BASF DISTINCT article written by Andrea Maillet.
Differing from most industry award shows, the Virtuosos judge entries based on measurable goals and objectives, strategic insights, overcoming challenges, execution and also creativity.
Each year the awards gala incorporates a theme into the evening’s festivities. This year marked the 20th anniversary of the IABC Virtuoso Awards and the 90s theme was pervasive throughout the ceremony. Florescent armed sunglasses, fanny packs, ghetto blasters and a DJ spinning 90s hit music made for a fun night that allowed us to let our hair down on a Thursday night.
It’s the kind of event that gives an opportunity for staff members to mingle not only with each other, but also other like-minded professionals in the London marketing community. From what we saw, it’s clear there are a lot of smart, energetic people doing great work in our city. Congrats to all the winners.

We were truly overwhelmed by the generosity of our vendors who filled our prize table so high, each player went home a winner.

We took home three IABC Virtuoso Awards
ON Communication (ON) has been recognized with three Virtuoso awards by the London Chapter of the International Association of Business Communicators (IABC) – one award of excellence and two awards of merit.
The award of excellence in media relations was awarded for work for Royal Canin Canada. ON also took home top honours by winning the Best of the Best Award. The two awards of merit were awarded for projects with Salvation Army Ontario Great Lakes Division in graphic design and BASF Canada in media relations.
“It’s an honour to receive awards for our projects with Royal Canin Canada, BASF Canada, and Salvation Army Ontario Great Lakes Division,” says Principal Robert Boyer. “We’re proud to receive recognition from IABC and our peers for the work we do to make our clients’ lives easier.”
The awards, handed out at the annual Virtuoso Awards Gala on June 5, recognize outstanding communication and design based on established national industry standards.
The award of excellence for Royal Canin, a health nutrition company who tailors diets based on breeds, life stage and special needs, was a full-scale media relations campaign including television, radio, social media and print, with an audience reach of over 8.5 million. ON secured several television and radio interview opportunities across Canada and over 200 pieces of print coverage. Royal Canin was featured on 680 News, Rogers Daytime, CTV, and Canadian Vet magazine.
